GIANT PRAWN 2023 FARM TOUR

GIANT PRAWN 2023 delegates will have a unique opportunity to visit some of Thailand's most advanced giant freshwater prawn aquaculture facilities engaged in monosex farming of prawns. Recent biotechnological advancements, particularly in the monosex farming of giant prawns, have enabled more intensive farming of prawns in monoculture or polyculture, mainly with the white shrimp.

Many new farms are being developed in the coastal and inland provinces of Thailand. GIANT PRAWN delegates who register for the Farm Tour on 29 November 2023 (limited to the first 30 participants) will visit a monosex prawn hatchery using an improved, fast-growing strain of Macrobrachium rosenbergii, one of the biggest giant prawn polyculture farms in Thailand, and an advanced indoor hatchery and broodstock development center.

6.30 am: Start from Novotel Bangkok Future Park Rangsit Hotel. Travel to Chachoengsao Province

8.30 – 9.30 am: Visit to Prawn Hatchery (Production of all-male monosex seed production)

9.30 – 11.00 am: Visit to the giant prawn farm

11.00 am – 12.30 pm: Visit the Indoor giant prawn broodstock center and hatchery

12.30 – 2.00 pm: Lunch at Bang Pakong Riverside Restaurant

2.00 – 4.00 pm: Trip back to Novotel Bangkok Future Park Rangsit Hotel
